Hii King Chiong : Service Without Borders, Always Put People First!
31.03.2015--Majulah Miri team leader, Dato Hii King Chiong, said that re-delineation of state constituencies is to provide more comprehensive care to the needs of the local people and not for representatives to selfishly care only for their own constituencies. He further explained that if the elected representatives had performed their duties and put the people first, there was no reason for the establishment of Majulah Miri.
Citing “service without borders”, Hii hoped that the people and elected representatives do not misunderstand Majulah Miri’s sincerity in providing service. Where there is a need for assistance, Hii King Chiong will be there.
Hii was today invited to a gathering with residents at Kampung Lopeng Tengah. He said that Majulah Miri does not get involved in politics and is a non-governmental organisation. Majulah Miri has a service team with motivated and energetic youths. The service centre simply hopes to improve and enhance livelihoods of people.
He emphasised that Majulah Miri is established to serve the people regardless of race, religion and location. Although the service centre has limited resources, the service team will do their best to provide assistance.
“There is a limitation as to what Majulah Miri and I can do. Therefore, we really hope that the local government, elected representatives and the people can work together with us in achieving better results. This is the strength through unity. If one only cares for one’s own constituency, then there is no love and togetherness.”
Hii urged everyone to curb prejudice and work together to improve quality of life of the people.
The committee of Surau Darul At-Taqwa at Kampung Lopeng Tengah requested for the assistance of Majulah Miri to build a ‘ghusl room’ and a multipurpose court. Hii promised villagers that he would provide assistance to enhance quality of their living environment.
The village people of Kampung Lopeng Tengah told Hii that they had forwarded their request to the local government and representatives for several times but to no avail for more than 20 years. They hoped that Majulah Miri will provide assistance and make their dreams come true.
