Chinese New Year Gathering With NSJA
19.02.13--Mr King Chiong Hii treated members of the Northern Sarawak Journalist Association (NSJA) in a Chinese New Year Dinner Gathering held at a leading hotel here last night.
The event was organised as a platform to express his gratitudes to members of the media on their positive supports to Hii King Chiong Service Centre (HKC SC).
Beside the special event aimed to promote better understanding, integration and efficient networking between HKCSC and members of the media.
“Firstly i wish to welcome all my good and hardworking friends, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for taking your time off and attend this meaningful event. As to me, you are part of the great team, without your tremendous supports HKC SC will never achieve its mission in providing the best community service”, expressed Mr Hii in his welcoming note.
He further elaborated, “the public at large recognise your efforts and contributions. They rely on reporters, journalists and editors for their daily dose of fair, accurate and comprehensive account of events and issues. Our readers are our inspiration, their trust and satisfaction in our reporting services continues to propel us to greater heights in the media industry. Therefore we must do our best to maintain our professional integrity and sound credibility”.
Mr Hii also urged members of the media to continue reviewed their standards, be responsible and responsive to the need for fair and accurate news and informations. He also said that as news and media specialists, the media personnel must not only be ready and able to use the new technology but they must also utilized it in the best possible way for the readers.
“While e-news or e-papers is still new to many readers, its our responsibility to educate and support the public on how to use it correctly and effectively“, he advised and also urged the media personnel to be more alert on the current local and international issues.
In ending up his welcoming address Mr Hii said, “Be proud of what you do. Be proud of your quality works. Be proud of your contributions to the community, the people and the nation. Last but not the least, we do hope for a more prosperous and successful year”.
Almost 100 guests which includes chief editors, editors, sub-editors, reporters and journalist from both the printed and electronic media attended the event.
Among the invited guests were Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Cr Suzanne Lee Tze Ha, Miri City Council Mayor, Cr Lawrence Lai, RTM Miri Station Manager, Mr Ramli Junaidi, Cr Keith Chin, Cr Lawrence Kong and members of HKC SC.
